Blitzkrieg 2010
The Boardgame Blitzkrieg- Memorial Day to Labor Day, has snuck in under the radar, with games of Pandemic, Smallworld and Carcassone shoe-horning themselves in around the wrapping up of an Eberron Campaign. It's time for the boardgaming to begin in earnest, with Merlin's Company entering the fray, along with Risk: Godstorm, and additions to Smallworld probably joining the gaming library after the Mole Brothers visit GenCon. Keep your eyes out for new Blitzkrieg business cards, along with new blog posts to your email accounts. And similar to last summer, we will be attempting to play during the week when possible, rather than on weekends.

9/1/09- Last Gasp
Target creature gets -3/-3 as we move into the end of summer. Last week saw an epic Magic: the Gathering booster draft in the Eventide set. Rodney came out on top, with mimics rounding the table for mid to last picks and ending up being some of the surprise top cards.
Friday night at the gameport highlighted an extended game of Axis & Allies, a first for the group, where the Allies, played by Christian and Rodney had a solid showing, nearly reaching Berlin before the players patience ran out. Kevin's plan as Hirohito to land Japanese troops on the West Coast of the U.S. never materialized. A game of Munchkin followed until late.
As the season winds down, the group is winding up to enter Eberron, with a new party of 1st level characters. We will be finishing up the Blitzkrieg in the next couple of weeks with a return to Pandemic, a Morningtide booster draft, and a final shot at Risk 2210, with expansions.

Saturday night saw a vicious and drawn out game of Magic The Gathering, 2-headed giant. A poison deck paired up with a mono-blue counter deck to take on a red elemental deck with double strike, paired with a blue ninja deck. The poison deck finished the game with poison counters, though the pairs' life total read one point left on the final turn.

Pre-season update
May gave us an opportunity to flex our gaming pecs for the summer- 2 sessions of Risk 2210, followed by a single session of Fury of Dracula. In 2210 we introduced two new mods for the game, the Tech Commander and Factions, both warmly received, though the second game was met with tepid enthusiasm because of the lean economics (player created!) throughout the gaming session.
Fury of Dracula was a return to a game once played extensively in 2005 by the members of the D&D group. David J. pulled off a near-win as a first-time Dracula player.
